Unarmed Security Specialist

An Unarmed Security Specialist is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by patrolling and monitoring premises, enforcing security policies, and responding to security incidents. You do not carry firearms but may use other non-lethal security equipment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or training)

  • Previous security experience is often preferred but not always required

Armed Security Specialist

An Armed Security Specialist is responsible for protecting an organization’s assets, employees, visitors, and property by patrolling the premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, and responding to security breaches. You are licensed to carry firearms and may be required to use them to deter or neutralize threats.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or training)

  • Valid state-issued armed security officer license and firearms permit

  • Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or security preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions

  • Physical fitness and the ability to stand and walk for extended periods

Protective Security Specialist (PSS)

A Personal Security Specialist (PSS) ensures the safety of individuals through risk assessment, threat detection, and protective measures. Highly trained in personal protection techniques, they provide tailored security solutions, close protection, secure transportation, and trusted advice to mitigate risks and ensure client well-being.

  • License/Certification: Valid State Driver's License (REQUIRED), Armed or Unarmed Security License (REQUIRED), and Valid Concealed Carry Permit for states (and/or with reciprocity) where operations are based (REQUIRED).

  • Experience and Background: A background in law enforcement, military, or private security is strongly encouraged. Previous experience in protective security or a related field is strongly encouraged.

  • Training: Completion of relevant training programs such as executive protection courses, close protection training, defensive tactics, first aid/CPR/ BLS/TCCC/TECC/TacMed, and firearms training are strongly encouraged. Attendance of in-house quarterly training will be required.

  • Physical Fitness: The role may involve physically demanding tasks, requiring candidates to be in good physical condition and capable of handling potential physical confrontations or emergency situations. Completion of PT standards test will be required.

  • Situational Awareness: Strong situational awareness skills are crucial for a Protective Security Specialist. They should be able to identify potential risks, assess threats, and respond swiftly and appropriately.

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effectively interacting with clients, team members, and other stakeholders. The ability to maintain composure, exhibit professionalism, and adapt to different situations is vital.

  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Protective Security Specialists must possess strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. They should be able to think quickly, evaluate options, and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations.

  • Confidentiality and Trustworthiness: Maintaining strict confidentiality and demonstrating the highest level of trustworthiness and integrity is imperative, as Protective Security Specialists often have access to sensitive information and work closely with high-profile individuals

  • Flexibility and Adaptability: The role may involve irregular working hours, travel, and changing environments. Candidates should be flexible and adaptable to accommodate varying schedules and unexpected situations.
