Arux Group provides Washington State-approved firearms certification training for professionals seeking to meet RCW and WAC requirements for armed roles in private security, investigation, or bail recovery.

Our instructors are fully certified by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (CJTC) as Private Security Firearms Instructors. We deliver comprehensive classroom instruction, written examination, live-fire range qualification, and all necessary documentation submission to CJTC for your firearms certificate. This enables you to apply for an Armed License endorsement from the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL).

Course Covers

Initial Firearms Certification (8-Hour Course): Full training meeting CJTC standards, including safe handling, legal use of force, and qualification with your duty handgun.

Prerequisites

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Hold (or be eligible for) a valid unarmed or armed license from DOL (or concealed pistol license for certain roles).
  • Typically sponsored by your employing company (certificate is issued in the company’s name).

Emergency Certification

If you require Washington CJTC armed certification within 7 calendar days of course completion, a $100 expedited processing fee will apply. This fee covers priority scheduling, accelerated administrative review, and submission to ensure timely certification.

*Sig Sauer P320/M17/M18 handguns are banned from all range and training classes for safety reasons.
**Blackhawk Serpa model (and similar finger actuated retention) and leather holsters are strictly prohibited during live fire range training and banned in all classes for safety reasons.
***IWB holsters are permitted if required by your role or agency policy. However, Arux Group instruction will focus exclusively on outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster draws and manipulation. No specific training, coaching, or accommodations will be provided for IWB setups. If a student chooses to utilize an IWB holster, the instructor will conduct a pre-qualification review of the student’s equipment to ensure range safety.

How long is the firearms certification course?

What are the age and license requirements?

How long does CJTC certification processing take?
Standard CJTC certification processing typically takes 2-4 weeks after course completion. If you require certification within 7 calendar days for immediate employment needs, a $100 expedited processing fee applies for priority scheduling and accelerated CJTC submission.
Where is the live-fire range training conducted?
Live-fire range qualification takes place at approved facilities in Vancouver, Washington meeting Washington State CJTC standards. We serve the Portland and Seattle metropolitan areas with training facilities throughout the Pacific Northwest.
What if I don't pass the range qualification?
If you do not pass the live-fire range qualification, we work with you to identify areas needing improvement and provide additional coaching. Our goal is to ensure every student gains the proficiency and certification needed for armed security duties safely and successfully.
Can I use an IWB holster for this course?
IWB holsters are permitted if required by your role or agency policy. However, Arux Group instruction focuses exclusively on outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster draws and manipulation. No specific training or coaching will be provided for IWB setups. The instructor will conduct a pre-qualification review of IWB equipment to ensure range safety.
What firearms and equipment are prohibited?
Sig Sauer P320/M17/M18 handguns are banned for safety reasons. Blackhawk Serpa model holsters (and similar finger-actuated retention) and leather holsters are strictly prohibited during live-fire range training for safety. Only modern striker-fired handguns with approved holsters are permitted.
Do you offer LEOSA qualification for retired law enforcement?
Yes. We provide Law Enforcement Officer’s Safety Act (LEOSA) Annual Qualification for qualified retired or separated law enforcement officers. This ensures compliance with federal requirements for carrying concealed firearms nationwide. Contact training@aruxgroup.com for LEOSA-specific scheduling.
Is this certification required for unarmed security?
No. This CJTC firearms certification is only required for armed security roles including armed private security guard, private investigator, and bail bond recovery agent positions. If you only need unarmed security certification, view our Washington DOL Unarmed Security Certification course.
Do you offer group training for security companies?

Can this certification be used in Oregon?
This certification is specifically for Washington State CJTC requirements for armed security roles. Oregon has separate firearms certification requirements.
