Washington DOL Unarmed Security Certification
Our DOL-certified unarmed security training provides the 8-hour certification required for entry-level security guard licensing in Washington state. The course is currently offered in a virtual online format and covers all required curriculum including legal authority, use of force, emergency response, observation and reporting, ethics, and professional conduct.

- Visitor and access management
Prerequisites: 18 years or older, US citizen or resident alien, conditional employment offer or current employment with a licensed security company, and fingerprint-based background check coordinated with DOL.

Our CJTC-certified firearms training program prepares security professionals for armed roles in Washington state. The 8-hour course includes classroom instruction on legal authority, use of force, and professional conduct, followed by live-fire range qualification at an approved facility. All certification documentation is handled and submitted by Arux Group.

Prerequisites: 21 years or older, valid DOL license eligibility or concealed pistol license for applicable roles, employer sponsorship, and required equipment including a modern striker-fired handgun, holster, and 400 rounds of ammunition.

This 4-hour annual renewal course is required to maintain your CJTC firearms certificate for armed professional roles in Washington state. Designed for currently certified armed security professionals, the refresher covers safe handling updates, legal use of force, a closed-book written examination, and live-fire range qualification with your duty handgun. All documentation is submitted to CJTC by Arux Group on your behalf.

Prerequisites: 21 years or older, current valid unexpired CJTC firearms certificate, valid armed DOL license, and employer sponsorship. If your certificate has expired, you must complete the full 8-hour initial course instead. We strongly recommend scheduling renewal at least 45 days before your expiration date. Expedited processing available for urgent renewal needs for an additional $100 fee.

Arux Group provides annual firearms qualification for retired and separated law enforcement officers under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA), also known as HR 218. LEOSA allows qualified retired or separated officers to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States, regardless of state or local laws, provided they complete annual firearms qualification with an approved instructor or agency.
Qualification covers:
- Live-fire range qualification meeting LEOSA standards
- Documentation of qualification for carry authorization
- Review of LEOSA eligibility requirements and legal carry provisions
- Issued qualification certification upon successful completion
Prerequisites: Must be a qualified retired or separated law enforcement officer meeting LEOSA eligibility requirements, including separation in good standing after at least 10 years of service, or separation due to a service-connected disability. Valid government-issued photo ID and proof of retired or separated LE status required at the time of qualification.

Yes. Can I take the unarmed course online?
Yes. The Washington DOL Unarmed Security Certification is currently offered in a virtual online format and is open for registration. Virtual sessions maintain the same DOL-approved curriculum, examination, and certification attestation standards as in-person training.
You will need a reliable internet connection, a webcam, and a quiet space for the full 8-hour session. Email training@aruxgroup.com with any questions about upcoming dates.
What are the prerequisites for unarmed certification?
You must be at least 18 years old, a US citizen or resident alien, employed by or have a conditional offer from a licensed private security company, and complete a fingerprint-based background check coordinated separately with DOL. The 8-hour course covers legal authority, use of force, emergency response, ethics, observation and reporting, and professional conduct.
What are the prerequisites for firearms certification?
You must be at least 21 years old, hold or be eligible for a valid DOL license or concealed pistol license for applicable roles, and be sponsored by your employing security company. Required equipment includes a modern striker-fired handgun (Sig Sauer P320/M17/M18 prohibited), an OWB or IWB holster (Blackhawk Serpa and leather holsters prohibited), 400 rounds of ammunition, eye and hearing protection, and weather-appropriate outdoor attire. A full equipment list is provided upon registration.

What are the prerequisites for the CJTC firearms refresher course?
You must be at least 21 years old, hold a current valid unexpired CJTC firearms certificate, possess a valid armed DOL license, and be sponsored by your employing company. Your CJTC certificate must not have expired. If it has expired, you must complete the full 8-hour initial firearms certification course rather than the 4-hour refresher.
We strongly recommend scheduling renewal at least 45 days before your expiration date to avoid any lapse in your armed status. Refresher courses are scheduled to return in late 2026.
Do you provide LEOSA qualification?
Yes. We provide Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) Annual Qualification for qualified retired or separated law enforcement officers. LEOSA allows qualified officers to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States. To qualify, you must be a retired or separated officer in good standing with at least 10 years of service, or separated due to a service-connected disability. Valid government-issued photo ID and proof of retired or separated LE status are required.

How far in advance should I register?
We recommend registering at least 2 weeks in advance to secure your preferred training date. Seats in each session are limited. For training needed within 7 days due to immediate employment requirements, contact training@aruxgroup.com to discuss emergency scheduling. A $100 expedited processing fee applies for priority certification needed within 7 calendar days of course completion.
