Arux Group Launches State-Approved Security Training in Washington

Arux Group now offers state-approved security training in Washington State. We provide Washington CJTC Firearms Certification, Washington CJTC Firearms Refresher, LEOSA Annual Qualification, and Washington DOL Unarmed Security Certification. All programs are led by instructors certified by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission and Department of Licensing, with operational backgrounds in Special Operations, law enforcement, and SWAT.

Two Certification Paths. One Standard of Instruction.

The Pacific Northwest security industry has a qualified personnel problem. Employers across Washington and Oregon are actively hiring, and the shortage of certified candidates, particularly for armed roles, is real. Arux Group launched its training programs to address this gap directly, not with a classroom certification mill, but with instruction grounded in how security work actually gets done.

Every course is taught by professionals who have held the roles students are training for. That context changes the quality of instruction. Understanding the difference between what a regulation requires and what a situation actually demands is something you carry into this work from experience, not a textbook.

LEOSA Annual Qualification

$100
Annual Qualification Retired LEO Only CJTC Instructors

Qualified retired and separated law enforcement officers can maintain nationwide concealed carry authority under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (18 USC 926C) through annual qualification. Our CJTC-certified instructors deliver the required course of fire using the WSCJTC-recommended qualification standard, including live-fire range qualification and issuance of your annual qualification certificate.

This is separate from CJTC armed certifications for active private security, PI, or bail recovery roles. LEOSA qualification does not renew those certifications, and those certifications do not satisfy LEOSA requirements.

Prerequisites: Must meet federal LEOSA eligibility: retired or separated in good standing with at least 10 years of service (or service-connected disability), previously authorized powers of arrest, and no disqualifying factors under state or federal law. Bring proof of eligibility to your session.

What to Expect From Arux Group Instruction

State certification courses cover a defined curriculum. What differs between providers is who delivers it and how. Our instructors bring careers in US Special Operations, law enforcement, SWAT operations, and professional security. They are not career trainers who have read about the work. They have done it.

That background shapes how material gets taught. Use of force is not covered as a legal abstraction. It is taught in context, with the kind of situational grounding that only comes from having made those decisions under pressure. Students leave with the certification requirement met and a clearer understanding of the job they are stepping into.

Registration and Scheduling

Unarmed certification courses are currently available on a rolling virtual schedule through June 2026. Armed certification and refresher courses are conducted in person at our Vancouver, WA range facility. Contact training@aruxgroup.com with questions or to arrange group training for your organization.

Why Organizations Send Their People to Arux Group

Certified Instructors

All instructors hold current Washington State CJTC or DOL certifications and carry real operational backgrounds in the disciplines they teach.

Documentation Handled

We manage all state submission and attestation requirements. Students and employers do not have to navigate the administrative process alone.

Flexible Formats

Unarmed certification is available virtually on a regular schedule. In-person training at our Vancouver facility serves the Portland and Seattle metro areas.

Group and Expedited Options

Security companies with hiring pipelines can arrange dedicated group sessions. Expedited processing is available for candidates with immediate employment start dates.

Hiring Landscape for Certified Security Professionals

Washington and Oregon employers are actively recruiting certified security personnel across corporate security, retail loss prevention, healthcare facility security, residential and commercial property protection, and event security. Armed roles generally command higher hourly rates and are harder to fill due to the certification requirement, which makes CJTC-certified candidates more competitive in the current market.

For professionals already working in the field, adding an armed endorsement or maintaining annual qualification on time is directly tied to continued employment eligibility. Letting a certification lapse, even briefly, creates a gap in your ability to work armed assignments. Scheduling renewals well ahead of expiration avoids that entirely.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Security Training

What certifications does Arux Group currently offer?

We currently offer four programs: Washington DOL Unarmed Security Certification ($250), Washington CJTC Firearms Certification ($425), Washington CJTC Firearms Refresher ($215), and LEOSA Annual Qualification for qualified retired and separated law enforcement officers. All programs meet Washington State requirements under RCW and WAC.

How long do the training courses take?

The Unarmed Certification and CJTC Firearms Certification are each 8-hour courses, typically completed in a single day. The CJTC Firearms Refresher is a 4-hour annual renewal course. LEOSA qualification session length varies based on the course of fire and individual candidate needs.

Can I take the unarmed course online?

Yes. The Washington DOL Unarmed Security Certification is available in a virtual format on a rolling schedule. Current virtual dates run through June 2026. Virtual sessions use the same DOL-approved curriculum and meet the same certification standards as in-person training. Email training@aruxgroup.com before registering to confirm your preferred date and receive setup instructions.

What are the prerequisites for the CJTC Firearms Certification?

You must be at least 21 years old, legally able to possess a firearm, and a U.S. citizen. You must hold or be eligible for a valid unarmed or armed license from the Washington State DOL, or a concealed pistol license for certain roles. Most candidates are sponsored by their employing security company, as the certificate is issued in the company’s name. Contact us if you have questions about your specific eligibility situation.

What handguns and equipment are allowed at the range?

Bring a modern striker-fired handgun, an OWB holster, 400 rounds of ammunition, a magazine carrier, a belt compatible with your holster and carrier, and eye and hearing protection. Sig Sauer P320, M17, and M18 handguns are not permitted at any range session for safety reasons. Blackhawk Serpa holsters and leather holsters are prohibited during live-fire training. IWB holsters are permitted but instruction focuses exclusively on OWB draws. Instructors will conduct a pre-qualification equipment review for any student using an IWB setup.

How quickly can I get certified after completing the course?

Standard certification processing through CJTC or DOL typically takes two to four weeks after course completion. If you have an immediate employment requirement and need certification within seven calendar days, expedited processing is available for a $100 fee. Contact training@aruxgroup.com before registering to confirm availability and arrange priority handling.

My CJTC certificate is expiring soon. Can I still take the refresher course?

If your certificate is within 30 days of expiration at the time you complete the refresher course, we cannot guarantee that CJTC will process the renewal before your current certificate expires. Delays in state administrative review are outside our control. We strongly recommend scheduling renewal at least 45 days before expiration. If your certificate has already expired, you must retake the full 8-hour initial CJTC Firearms Certification course rather than the refresher.

Do you offer group training for security companies?

Yes. We work with security companies that need dedicated training sessions for their hiring pipelines or existing teams. Contact training@aruxgroup.com to discuss available dates, session structure, and pricing for group bookings.

Does Washington certification apply to security work in Oregon?

Our current programs are Washington State certifications through CJTC and DOL. Oregon has its own licensing requirements through DPSST. If you are working in Oregon, contact us to discuss your specific situation and what training applies to your role and employer. Oregon-specific training may be added to our program offerings in the future.
